Connecticut’s electric and natural gas utilities have joined forces to offer a special financing program to help customer convert or replace their existing heating systems for more energy efficient ones.
The Energize Connecticut Heating Loan program offers an interest rate of 2.99 percent for loans up to $15,000 for a period ranging from three to 10 years. The loans can be repaid on monthly utility bills.
The loans are available to customers of electric utilities United Illuminating and Connecticut Light & Power and natural gas utilities Yankee Gas, Southern Connecticut Gas, and Connecticut Natural Gas.
The new program comes as the three natural gas utilities are working to convert 280,000 new customers to natural gas home heating over the next 10 years.
